How to wear Layers & Jacket Information
  • You will have to wear atleast three to four layers.
  • Layers will keep body warm and more protected from cold weather
  • One thik layer or thik jacket is not feasible.

How to wear layers: To understand layering your clothing for yatra you need to know the fuction of each layer.

Down jacket

It is better to have goose down with more then 550 fill power. SKY do provide jacket for yatra but it advisable to carry your own jacket which fits you well. Please note that this is going to be your third or fourth layer. So it should not be tight.


Sleevless jacket

The third layer should be thin sleevless jacket.


Water proof jacket and rain pants

SKY will provide poncho which will protect you from rain but its advisable to carry one waterproof jacket and rain or SKI pants. SKI pant is good idea during parikrama which protects from rains and also from cold weather

Thermal

Thermal or Base Layer

The base layer is in direct contact with your skin to do its job, so you want a body fit. Your options for thermals are midweight and heavy weight. Contact SKY for more information.

Casual Clothing

During the yatra you will require 5 pairs of Casual clothing, Trekpant & T-shirt, Salwar suits are also good. Please not that this will be your second or third layer so it should not be body tight. You can avoide wearing heavy jeans and thik t shirts.

Socks

Hiking socks are rarely made from a single fabric, but rather from a blend that creates the right balance of comfort, warmth, durability and fast drying.

Woolen Socks

During the yatra you will require 4 Pairs of Woolen Socks. Wool is the most popular hiking sock material and the one that our footwear specialists recommend above all others. It regulates temperature well to keep your feet from getting sweaty and it provides cushioning.


Cotton Socks

During Yatra you will require 6 Pairs of Cotton Socks.


Heat Socks

During Yatra you will require 1 pair of Heat socks. This will keep your feet warm in cold nights.

Gloves

Glove Sleeve or Thin Gloves

During the Yatra you will require 1 pair of Glove sleeve or Thin Gloves.


Thick Gloves

During the Yatra you will require 1 pair of Thick Gloves. We suggest you to carry thick gloves which are Waterproof & Insulating.

Caps & Face Mask

Summer Cap or Hat

During the yatra you will require 1 Summer Cap. This will protect you head from sunlight during Parikrama as we will be at high altitude.


Monkey cap/Balaclava/ Face Mask

We advise you to carry a Monkey Cap, Balaclava or Face mask to cover your face from sunlight during Parikrama as we will be at high altitude.

9 Derapuk-Parikrama Day-1 Winter clothes- thermal, full sleeve t shirt- pant, sweater and if needed jacket
10 Zutulpuk Parikrama Day-2 Winter clothes- thermal, full sleeve t shirt- pant, sweater and thick jacket
11 Darchen Parikrama Day-3 Winter clothes- thermal, full sleeve t shirt- pant, sweater and thick jacket
12 Saga-return journey starts – Full sleeve T-shirt & pants. If needed one thick  jacket
13 Kerung-kathmandu Summer clothes
