The current social media generation has exaggerated traveling and the desire to stay close to nature with terms like wanderlust and more. Even before these became mainstream, I’ve had this simple desire to explore as much as I could and spend as much time as possible by pristine streams, rivers, Himalayan Mountains, and quaint villages tucked away from civilizations.
One of my such desires made me turn into Bhakti. I used to think if the creation is so overwhelming, how amazing the creator would be!!
Somehow, I started loving Lord Shiva as I have heard that HE lives in the Himalayas!!
I started to learn more about the Abode of Lord Shiva and become more curious about visiting the mystical place. In 1994, I decided to visit the place. I was one of the youngest yatris from India, traveling over 42 days, walking over 600 odd Kilometers to catch a glimpse of the majestic mountain.
What I saw was unbelievable. Something so powerful, divine, and beautiful and yet beyond human comprehension. The first sight of the mountain is still a fresh memory and it was then that I decided I would keep coming back.
Driven by the urge to be close to the Mountain as much as possible and to make others experience what I went through, I started learning more about the trail and expanded my network across frontiers. When everything was in place, I took my first batch of yatris with me in 2001. There were total 35 seekers in that batch.
Since then, there has been no turning back. I lead every batch to ensure I get to see the awe in their eyes and feel the sense of content in their minds. I’ve been so engrossed in this that it’s been almost two decades now. Meanwhile, I also explored the lengths and breadths of this country and stumbled upon some equally beautiful and pristine places across the nation.
I now organize yatras all over the country.
