Situated at an altitude of 3,710 meters (12,172 feet) at the base of the Thorong La mountain pass in the Mustang district, Muktinath is a highly venerated and sacred place for both Hindus and Buddhists. Among all 108 Hindu Dhams, Muktinath is considered one of the eight most sacred shrines for Hindu (Vaishnavas) known as Svayam Vyakta Ksetras.

    • Saligram – The Purana legends (300-1000 AD) mention Shaligrama being the most holy spot connected to the Gandaki River. Shaligrama is one of The 108 Temples & Celestial Abodes of Vishnu referred by the Tamil hymns of the Alwars of the 1st millennium CE.

    Pokhra

    • Beautiful city, boating, caves & waterfalls
    • Manakamana devi Temple ( Shaktipith ). It is believed that Manokamna Devi grants wishes of all the pilgrims who reach to her shrine to worship her.

    Jomsom

    • The trail follows the Kali Gandaki River which forms the deepest ravine in the world; on one side lies the Annapurna mountain range and on the other side is Dhaulagiri. Between the two ranges, one cane view 8 of the 20 highest mountain peaks in the world.
    • The story of Gandaki contains the universal theme of the Ultimate justifying sinners by their faith in the divine and changing them into new, reborn, creations.

How do we travel from Kathmandu to Pokhra & How much time will it take?
Kathmandu to Pokhra is downhill. It will take about five hours. If you are going via Manokamna devi temple then add two more hours to your journey to Pokhra.
How far is Manokamna Devi Tempe from Kathmandu?
Manokamana devi is Shaktipith. It is about 140 kms from Kathmandu and it will take 4 hours drive to reach there.
What kind of accommodation is available in Pokhara?
You will be given nice, clean and comfortable hotel on twin sharing basis. Your all meals are included in the cost.
We have heard the flight from Pokhara to Jomsom has always 50 % chances to take off. Is this correct?
Yes this is correct. We would say that there are only 70% chances of taking off. Even in favourable weather there will be no flight after 12:30 pm.
What if our flight does not fly?
We will try to arrange land cruisers or good quality jeeps. The cost is same or more then flights.
How is the road condition if we have to drive from Pokhara to Jomosom?
The road is ok but few parts are realy bumpy. The scenery is very beautiful.
How do we go from Jamosom to Muktinath ?
Jomsom to Muktinath is about 25 kilometres and it will take about an hour of drive. In each vehicle there will be 8 to 1 0 pilgrims.
How is road condition from Jomsom to Muktinath?
The road are bumpy from Jomson to Muktinath, the surrounding is scenic. One could see the hidden Himalayas.
Is it advisable to take bath in Muktinath or in Gadnaki river?
One must take bath in 108 Gaumukh around Muktinath temple. It consider as Holy water of Damodar Kund and other holy kundas. Muktinath is Muktinath Kshetra. It is believed after this holy bath one get Mukti from His past Karmas.
How much extra money we will need for Muktinath yatra?
Nepali Rs 5000 is fine for the yatra. You may like to give some donation in Muktinath temple. If you want to buy Shaligram then you may need some extra money.
