Somnath Temple is an important pilgrimage and tourist spot of Gujarat. Destroyed and reconstructed several times in the past, the present Temple was reconstructed in Chaulukya style of Hindu temple architecture and complete in May 1951. The Somnath temple is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas in India. The name Somnath means ‘The protector of the Moon God’ and is believed to have been built by Soma, the Moon God himself.
